If you want a role that feels meaningful from day one, this is the place.

In the Torres and Cape, your care shapes futures, strengthens communities, and builds trust where it matters most. You’ll experience deep professional satisfaction paired with a lifestyle most people only dream about. You’ll build real relationships with patients and experience health care that extends far beyond clinic walls. Outside of work, trade rush hour for reef sunsets and pristine beaches. It’s a career move with heart, adventure, and balance all built in. Purpose, culture, adventure—it’s all waiting here.

Working as a Rural Generalist or Senior Medical Officer across Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service offers a uniquely rewarding opportunity to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care in some of Australia’s most diverse and remote communities. Clinicians practise a broad scope of medicine, managing everything from primary health care and chronic disease management to emergency presentations, retrieval medicine, inpatient care, and procedural services. This breadth of practice allows doctors to develop and maintain advanced clinical skills while making a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The role provides a rare combination of professional autonomy, clinical variety, and strong multidisciplinary support, creating a dynamic and highly fulfilling environment for experienced medical practitioners who are passionate about rural and remote medicine.
