These grants aim to increase access to ophthalmic education and networks through participating virtually in the RANZCO 56th Annual Scientific Congress, taking place 14-17 November 2025.
These opportunities are open to Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Māori and/or Pacific medical students and junior doctors interested in ophthalmology as a career, as well as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Māori and/or Pacific RANZCO VTP trainees. Applicants must be members of the Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA), Te Ohu Rata o Aotearoa (Te ORA), or the Pasifika Medical Association (PMA).

ANZEF Scholarships to attend AIDA 2025
RANZCO
The ANZEF scholarships aim to facilitate the participation of aspiring ophthalmologists at AIDA 2025.
They are available to First Nations medical students and junior doctors who are members of AIDA and have an interest in eye health and ophthalmology.
The Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association Conference (AIDA 2025) will take place from 27-29 November on Gadigal Country / Sydney.
The multi-day event provides invaluable opportunities for those attending to network and share experiences with peers, as well as a platform to learn, develop and share individual stories in a culturally safe environment.

GP NRS – get involved!!
Australian Council for Educational Research
The General Practice National Registrar Survey (GP NRS) is an annual, national survey of GP registrars currently training in the AGPT, RVTS and RGTS programs. The information is used by stakeholders and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to assure the quality of training provision in the program, enable continuous improvement and benchmark response nationally to ensure equity in the provision of training.
Each GP registrar in active training during Sem 1 will have been emailed by ACER with a unique link to participate. Please participate to ensure the data collected is valid and reliable and can be used to drive policy and program development. The survey is open to 18 July.
Cancer Scholarships NOW OPEN
Cancer Australia
Cancer Australia, in partnership with the Aurora Education Foundation is calling for applications for the second round of the First Nations Cancer Scholarships program.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander post graduate students, early career researchers and health professionals in cancer related fields are encouraged to apply for up to $120,000 annually for up to 3 years, as well as academic, wellbeing and community support.
The goal of the scholarship program is to expand the network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people actively involved in cancer control, further embedding Indigenous voices into cancer policy and research. and care delivery.

The Deadly Sex Congress Committee are calling for expressions of interest to present at the Deadly Sex Congress 2025.
Share your insights and work in sexual health and blood-borne viruses with the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce by presenting at the Deadly Sex Congress. The Congress is running from 22-23 October in Gimuy (Cairns) on the land of the Gimuy Walubarra Yidinji peoples.

First Nations Cancer Scholarship
Aurora Education Foundation
The First Nations Cancer Scholarship (Scholarship) will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduate students, health professionals, and early-career researchers (ECRs) to undertake full-time postgraduate study (graduate certificate, masters or PhD) or research in a cancer-related field. The purpose of the Scholarship is to support Scholars in building the skills and knowledge required to inform strategies to improve cancer outcomes for Indigenous communities and increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders in cancer-related fields.
Administered by Aurora, each scholarship is valued at up to $120, 000 AUD per year, for up to three years.

The South Australia Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of
Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) is offering Ophthalmology Elective Grants between $1,000 – $3,000 for First Nations medical students at Flinders University and The University of Adelaide.
This grant aims to support and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students to pursue an Ophthalmology elective, potentially leading to a future career in the field.
