About Specialist Trainee Support Program (STSP)

AIDA’s STSP aims to grow the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander non-GP specialist workforce through collaboration with colleges and delivery of culturally appropriate tailored support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prevocational doctors and trainees to:

  • Strengthen recruitment and successful application of doctors into training programs and
  • Support retention and successful graduation of trainees into non-GP specialties

Participation

The Fellows Reference Group will meet three to four times per financial year directly after Cross College meetings, to debrief and provide input. Meetings will be held online, with in-person opportunities linked to AIDA events where possible.

Remuneration

AIDA values the time and expertise of our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Fellows and recognises the considerable demands on doctors’ time. AIDA will remunerate Fellows $250 per hour for their participation in each meeting and an equal amount for meeting preparation. Meetings will be 1.5 hours in length, therefore remuneration will be for 1.5 hours of meeting time and 1.5 hours of preparation and pre-reading equating to $750 per meeting and will be paid via invoice.
