I​ ​am​ ​a​ ​Kombumerri​ ​woman​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Gold​ Coast.​ ​I​ ​am currently​ ​living​ ​on​ ​the​ ​Gold​ ​Coast.

Where​ ​on​ ​the​ ​medical​ ​continuum​ ​are​ ​you?
I​ ​am​ ​in​ ​my​ ​2nd​ ​of​ ​5​ ​years.

Current​ ​workplace​ ​or​ ​place​ ​of​ ​study? (Any​ ​interesting​ ​placements/experiences)
Bond​ ​university.

What​ ​does​ ​a​ ​typical​ ​day​ ​of​ ​your​ ​life​ ​entail​ ​and​ ​how​ ​do you​ ​unwind​ ​after​ ​a​ ​day​ ​of​ ​work/study? (Do​ ​you​ ​have​ ​any​ ​additional​ ​talents?)
I​ ​am​ ​a​ ​classical​ ​singer​ ​and​ ​spend​ ​most​ ​of​ ​my​ ​spare​ ​time either​ ​singing​ ​or​ ​teaching​ ​singing.​ ​I​ ​am​ ​a​ ​singing​ ​teacher for​ ​a​ ​number​ ​of​ ​indigenous​ ​students​ ​that​ ​are​ ​members​ ​of the​ ​yugambeh​ ​youth​ ​choir.

Who​ ​or​ ​what​ ​was​ ​your​ ​biggest​ ​inspiration​ ​in​ ​becoming a​ ​doctor?
My​ ​biggest​ ​inspiration​ ​would​ ​be​ ​my​ ​family​ ​as​ ​they​ ​have always​ ​encouraged​ ​me​ ​to​ ​pursue​ ​my​ ​dreams​ ​and​ ​to​ ​work as​ ​hard​ ​as​ ​I​ ​can.

Has​ ​AIDA​ ​supported​ ​you​ ​through​ ​your​ ​studies/career? If​ ​so,​ ​how?
AIDA​ ​has​ ​given​ ​me​ ​the​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​a​ ​number​ ​of other​ ​indigenous​ ​doctors​ ​and​ ​students​ ​who​ ​have​ ​given me​ ​lots​ ​of​ ​insight​ ​into​ ​the​ ​years​ ​I​ ​have​ ​ahead​ ​of​ ​me.

Have​ ​you​ ​encountered​ ​any​ ​culturally​ ​safety​ ​issues during​ ​your​ ​studies/career?
I​ ​have​ ​a​ ​great​ ​support​ ​system​ ​at​ ​my​ ​university​ ​and​ ​the medical​ ​program​ ​does​ ​cultural​ ​sensitivity​ ​programs​ ​for​ ​all the​ ​students​ ​that​ ​make​ ​the​ ​overall​ ​environment extremely​ ​friendly​ ​and​ ​culturally​ ​appropriate.

What​ ​inspires​ ​you​ ​within​ ​the​ ​medical​ ​profession? (Particularly​ ​Indigenous​ ​medicine)
I​ ​am​ ​extremely​ ​inspired​ ​by​ ​the​ ​kids​ ​that​ ​I​ ​work​ ​with​ ​as​ ​it encourages​ ​me​ ​to​ ​continue​ ​doing​ ​what​ ​I’m​ ​doing.​ ​Seeing how​ ​proud​ ​they​ ​are​ ​of​ ​me​ ​and​ ​how​ ​much​ ​they​ ​look​ ​up​ ​to me​ ​inspires​ ​me​ ​to​ ​work​ ​harder​ ​and​ ​not​ ​give​ ​up.

Have​ ​you​ ​been​ ​a​ ​mentee​ ​or​ ​mentor?​ ​What​ ​has​ ​your experience​ ​been?
I​ ​am​ ​a​ ​mentor​ ​for​ ​my​ ​vocal​ ​students​ ​and​ ​I​ ​aim​ ​to​ ​inspire them​ ​to​ ​follow​ ​their​ ​dreams​ ​and​ ​help​ ​them​ ​to​ ​achieve​ ​any of​ ​their​ ​goals​ ​despite​ ​the​ ​environment​ ​that​ ​they​ ​may come​ ​from.

What​ ​field​ ​of​ ​medicine​ ​is​ ​your​ ​passion?
I​ ​would​ ​like​ ​to​ ​be​ ​an​ ​ENT​ ​surgeon.

Have​ ​you​ ​won​ ​any​ ​awards/prizes/scholarships​ ​or other​ ​notable​ ​achievements? (Not​ ​restricted​ ​to​ ​just​ ​medicine) 
I​ ​am​ ​the​ ​recipient​ ​of​ ​Bond​ ​University’s​ ​Indigenous​ ​Medical Scholarship.​ ​I​ ​also​ ​have​ ​my​ ​certificate​ ​of​ ​performance​ ​in classical​ ​voice.

What​ ​do​ ​you​ ​see/hope​ ​to​ ​achieve​ ​in​ ​your​ ​future?
I​ ​hope​ ​that​ ​I​ ​am​ ​successful​ ​I’m ​achieving​ ​my​ ​dreams​ ​and encouraging​ ​other​ ​Indigenous​ ​people​ ​to​ ​do​ ​the​ ​same.

 Are​ ​you​ ​looking​ ​forward​ ​to​ ​the​ ​AIDA​ ​Conference​ ​2018 in​ ​​ ​Perth?​ ​If​ ​so,​ ​why? 
I​ ​am​ ​always​ ​looking​ ​forward​ ​to​ ​the​ ​AIDA​ ​conference​ ​as​ ​it​ ​is an​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​up​ ​with​ ​like​ ​minded​ ​people​ ​that share​ ​similar​ ​stories​ ​and​ ​passions​ ​to​ ​myself.
